At Erin Mills Pet Hospital we strive to deliver your pets the most up to date care and medical advancements. We accomplish this in part by being an active member of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. By adhering to the strict standards of these associations, which are backed by years of research and specialist collaboration, we are able to keep our standards of veterinary care very modern and progressive, thereby giving your pets the best possible medical care.
Annual physical examinations (and twice yearly if they are over 7 years of age!) and blood/urine analysis are the cornerstones to keeping your pets happy and healthy. This allows us to do a complete physical examination of your pet to assess their overall health, inside and out. During the physical exam we can pick up on subtle changes in your pet that can indicate underlying issues that need to be addressed, and analysis of blood and urine tell us about your pet’s internal organ function. Preventative medicine is our goal at Erin Mills Pet Hospital, so picking up on issues early so that they can be treated effectively is the standard. Often disease processes need to become very advanced before our pets begin to show us outwardly that they are ill, and by the time we see that they are sick, it makes it impossible to treat them effectively. This is why the annual physical exam and blood/urine analysis are by far the most important things you can do to help your pets stay happy and healthy for as long as possible!
Vaccinations are a smaller but very important part of the annual examination to keep your pets healthy. Our doctors will discuss your pet’s health and lifestyle with you to determine a vaccination schedule that is tailored to their specific needs. We always follow the vaccination guidelines set out by the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners to ensure your pets are safely and effectively well protected. This involves getting them onto a 3 Year core vaccination protocol for Rabies and DA2PP for dogs and FVRCP for cats, and ensuring that they are vaccinated appropriately for other diseases based on their risk of infection.
The Erin Mills Pet Hospital Team is here for you and your pets, and keeping your pets happy and healthy is our passion! We look forward to working with you as a team to care for all of your pets as individuals, giving them the specific and tailored health care they deserve!
